Sustainable Transportation

Every Image on this web site depicts a walkable neighborhood. Some are rural, some are urban, but all are great places to walk. The key ingredient in each case is the marriage of good design across the scales of the the building, street and neighborhood to create the attractiveness and convenience that are the hallmarks of the best walkable neighborhoods which are themselves building blocks of sustainable cities and regions..

Small Town

Here the houses are close together and close to the street. The compact form helps keep trips short. In many examples,  narrow residential streets allow cars, bikes and pedestrians to share space safely.

Urban

Here the density is higher, the pedestrian realm is its own space whose integrity and quality is prioritized, and regular transit service allows people to get around without cars.
